What is Tui Na / Anma (Medical Massage)?
Tui Na — “pushing and grasping” — is a manual therapy grounded in Traditional Chinese Medicine, of which acupressure is one part. Shiatsu-Anma shares these roots, blended with Japanese bodywork refined over centuries.\n\nMore than relaxation, it is healing massage: working the right areas to move Qi and blood and resolve the underlying problem.

Answers to common questions about your care and what to expect.
What is Tui Na?
Tui Na (also called Anma) is therapeutic Chinese bodywork. It uses targeted pressure, kneading, and joint movement along the same channels used in acupuncture.
How is it different from a regular massage?
It is clinically oriented rather than purely relaxing — the work is directed at a specific complaint such as pain, stiffness, or tension, and often accompanies acupuncture in the same visit.
Do I need to undress?
No. Tui Na is typically done through loose clothing, so wear something comfortable you can move in.
Is it suitable if I have an injury?
Often, but tell us what happened and whether you have seen a physician. For a new or significant injury we will ask you to get it evaluated first and will work within what your provider advises.
